Lidl do an amazing Amarone at £9.99. Waitrose do an amazing Amarone at £20.
I've bought and enjoyed both.
Waitrose do some spectacular wine offers at times and last year I had a good few bottles of delicious rosé (not very often I use those two words in the same sentence) which, when using a combination of different offers simultaneously, worked out at £4.75 a bottle.
Shopping at Waitrose doesn't make you a snob and shopping at Lidl doesn't make you down-market.
I shop at both and like to think I'm a savvy shopper.
Yes I agree as well. To dismiss one supermarket, because its too downmarket is just daft. My sister-in-law still won't go to Lidl, although she has been spotted coming out of one !
I haven't had very good experiences in shopping in Lidl or Aldi. I bought a chicken in one of them and the amount of water that came out during cooking was shocking. I also bought a joint of beef that was disgusting (and no, it wasn't my cooking)
I do like their cured meat selection though.
We don't have a Waitrose close to us here in Swansea, but I like to call in, when I see one, as I like their own brand Three Fruit Marmalade....very tangy, like marmalade should be.
