Oh yes !!! I thought it was just me who loves the rain. I can remember many years ago walking the "South Downs Way" - along beautiful country foot- and bridle-paths. On a very hot sunny afternoon (like today) we were in open country with only a small copse ahead (about a mile away). Suddenly the air pressure changed, it became really hot and sultry and black storm clouds appeared overhead. We all starting running towards the copse and arrived as the heavens opened. Trouble was, I love the rain so much, I dashed back out into the open with my arms stretched out. My friends thought I was absolutely bonkers and didn't understand me at all !
Nope. Sorry , I guess i'm in the minority here because i'm a big scaredy pants. I cower in my house until the storm passes , close all my curtains , switch everything electrical off and stand with my knees knocking ! I've been terrified of storms ever since I was caught out in one at the age of seven and watched lightning bounce off the ground near to where I was standing. I guess that explains why I became a fast runner ! I suppose I never gave much thought before that to the fact that lightning CAN hit you and doesn't just stay in the sky looking pretty. I hate the really loud rumble of thunder and just recently in East Kilbride where I live we had a pretty terrifying/spectacular - depending on your point of view - storm which went on for hours on end. We had the full whack , sheet , fork lightning etc. The pictures in the paper the following day were pretty cool but I bet the old man who had to be rescued in Hamilton whilst clinging on to a lampost , waist high in water didn't agree. I try to play it cool for my kids' sake by saying , wow that was a good one when i'm really shaking like a leaf. We had a thunderstorm today but thankfully it passed quite quickly. I'm just a big feartie !!!
