They should spend as much as they do on other missing person cases. And call it a day at the same point as they do for the other cases, too. So I have to believe that they have knocked this case on the head years ago.

Several of their party left their children while they went for a meal so the McCann's children were not the only ones to be left alone. That is why the parents of those children, including the McCanns, were taking it in turn to check the children every hour or so. The other parents don't get slated, only the McCanns because it was one of their children who was taken.
And yes, the police should be able to carry on with the investigation while they have leads to follow.

only the McCanns because they keep raising the case profile in the hope a miracle will undo what they failed at. No one keeps on about things they were fortunate to get away with.

OG my reply was to Truthteller pointing out that it is not true to say that nobody leaves their children etc .....

Either you don't live in the same world that I do, or you don't read papers or watch the news.

In an ideal world, there would be no limit to the amount of money and resources devoted to finding every missing child - it's impossible ever to say 'enough has been spent already ...', it's never enough if any child is missing.

Sadly, resources are limited, and the decision has to be made as to whether or not investing more money and resources will find this child, or not.

I am so glad I don't have to decide.
