I was chuffed to see this, Mikey! I've been an Aldi fan for years but lately I've had some cracking good stuff from Lidl.... I do still have the two friends who won't shop at either.... they drive to the next town because..... in his words.... Oh no, no.....we're a Waitrose couple, aren't we darling?.... .. I'd so love to have that put on matching tee shirts for...

I was told by the woman who was working on the till at Aldi that they have a limit how many items they have to scan through the scanner at a certain time. I really can't remember what she said but it was something like 500+ items per hour and if that is not achieved, the staff member will be performance managed. That is why they are so quick at scanning and why you are encouraged to pack your shopping on a shelf away from the till.
Well they certainly all fail at our local Aldi, it is an appalling place with only a couple of till open and huge queues. Both Lidl and Aldi dont deliver and the car parks are useless. In addition their range is poor and on many items not that much cheaper.
Must admit not had anything from Waitrose since y daughter left there(Weekend van driver) as she got a hefty discount.
Got 3 'spoons within walking distance all good. Was in the Lansdowne one last Thurs, real ale from 1.99 a pint. Excellent value.

I know what you mean, naomi. I'm an occasional user of Aldi (right across the road from my local Tesco!), and I've often wondered how they get away with so many lookalikes:

Surely no one buys them thinking they are something else (well very few I'd think) - having read the thread I've shopped at or had deliveries from all stores mentioned and more.
Some good products in all and some not so good - I'd love to be able to get out and pick and mix shop, but for now am stuck with a delivery once a fortnight from one store.
