i'd really like to have my teeth whitened, but it costs approx 500 to have it done professionally. I know there are several teeth whitening kits u can buy out there, does anybody know if these really work, and if so, any recommendations as to which one to buy. I'd rather opt for the cheaper version if they work before i fork out alot of money to have it done professionally. thanx.

I know this is not what you want to hear but there are so many horror stories surrounding this practice that it's best to use Pearl Drops or similar stuff - and save your money - and in the long run your teeth.

I asked my dentist about having it done privately, or the cheaper version and it was an emphatic 'No!' to both options as he had seen the result, and it wasn't a pretty sight. It may look great but the damage it does to the tooth enamel is enormous, and in time causes gum erosion and loss of choppers! This is only one dentist's opinion and others could well think it safe, but it might be an idea to have a chat with your own dentist before embarking on a flashy molar kit.
