Perceptions ...

... other people's, of yourself. I find lately when shopping & arriving at the till, I get, hiya lovee or ... alright dear, I assume it's my grey hair? I find myself saying in my head, hey, I've just cleaned the equivalent of a small cinema area. So perceptions, whether that's hair, the way you dress, tattoos, what's your experiences positive or negative of what people make of you just on appearance? Also, do you ever use other people's perceptions of you to your own advantage?

Personally I think I am just blunt and honest.
You know, when the local drug dealer offers to buy you a pint and you say something like 'why on earth would I want you to buy me a pint?'
For some reason they think that's being rude.

People's perceptions of me are almost always wide of the mark, which I enjoy and encourage.
I look younger than I am, and I also look very 'straight' - like I would be a manager or in charge. In fact, as regulars know, I am a music writer and I adore heavy metal and rock in general, and always look like someone's dad who has turned up early to pick up their child from the gig, whereas I will probably have come from back stage interviewing the band.
Because I am conscious of being very different from how I appear, I make a big effort not to judge people on appearances, so I wait to have first impressions counfounded, because I love to do that myself.

I'd have to guess, but I think strangers who meet me for the first time think I'm rather wacky and extremely chatty.
I will strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere and am I the one asking 'Are you looking for something particular' when I see someone dithering up and down supermarket aisles.
So - nosy, talkative but helpful with it.
