Objections from a new housing estate included "the noise of the bat striking the ball" and "the effort of batting and bowling" !
These "noises" are only to be heard for a few weeks of the yea.. If they didn't like the sound of cricket being played, why did they buy houses so close to a cricket ground ?

'One letter complained about men "dropping their trousers to remove thigh pads and boxes in their underwear" says an awful lot about the letter- writer, and none of it is good imo It's akin to those who buy a house close to a primary school and complain when the little cherubs come out to play at break-time or lunch-time.

'The young men will turn to other things instead of cricket. The whole village will be much the poorer. And all this because of a newcomer who has just bought a house there next to the cricket ground.'
a rather dignified way of slamming the successful couple.
I wonder what the local residents make of living in close proximity to the golf course have to say.
(just generally)
Am sure they've all heard the smack of tungsten on a wee defenceless white thingy and may have occasionally had a wee white thingy end up in their garden.

The complaints seem to be about the position of the new practice area rather than the club itself. I guess net sessions can go on all year round, not just the playing season.
I did laugh about the complaint about men in their underwear removing boxes and pads. Why are they looking if the place bothers them so much?

Yet again 08:48 Mikey displays a complete misunderstanding of the written word.
Sqads post is clear in separating the two types of Noise nuisance
///Compensation claims due to industrial noise induced hearing loss is well know, well established, well understood and financially well compensated. This is loud noise over a long period of time///
First part is clear in its meaning
///but lesser noises over a short period of time attract less sympathy, but this "Environmental Noise" can be equally annoying.
People's reaction to this type of noise varies from extreme irritation to no effect at all, but in the former case can lead to stress, strain , sleeplessness and a rise in blood pressure.
It is only when one experiences this does one realise the effect of noise and cannot be foreseen before one buys a house in that community.
The residents may well have a case on the grounds of Health and Safety issues///
The second part refers to the type of noise from the Cricket ground and similar activities which is not on an Industrial Scale but can have a similar affect over time,
