Do We Really Want The Cheapest Flight?

As British Airways join the rush to the bottom, they say that low price is the fliers main priority.
Is this really true? I was fortunate to fly at others expense when flying was a pleasure and you could get up from the window seat and go to the loo without disturbing the people next to you. The last time I flew, reluctantly, I wished somebody would shoot me. Why do we tolerate being treated worse than cattle? Are we prepared to put up with 3 to 24 hours of horror just for a fix of sun? I am not made of money but I'll only ever fly again if I can afford an upgrde.

A simple thread on how unpleasant it is to be crammed in with others on a flight seemed to deteriorate into an argumentative one fairly easily. Seems to me that folk are entitled to state their objection to it whilst others can approve of poor but cheap conditions. I've not flown for years but my impression is that airlines don't seem to get the right balance. They seem to go from overly basic to ultra expensive in a single leap.

I'm an average sized female so I don't have much of an issue with leg room. So many holidays are package holidays so you don't get to chose who you fly with.

I've never witnessed drunken yobs on a plane.

Neither have I ummmm and as for their being 2 lots on a plane and the staff still serving drinks whilst apparently telling them to behave - Oh and the spitting - Nope doesn't ring true.

I haven't done long haul for years so the flights I take are about 3 hours so not much time to be served numerous drinks on board.

I'm not exactly sure what this OP is trying to say but it's obvious that yes an affordable price to the majority is important and airtravel is now available to the masses as it should be. I do long haul once a year but can only afford economy - I do however select Virgin over BA. And to an earlier post BA economy is certainly no better than Monarch or Easyjet come to that. BA is no longer a flagship carrier sadly.

Hi 237SJ, it was meant as sarcasm not an insult, just as your first two responses, Centre Parc etc. I was waiting for you to out yourself as a pilot. To Islay, that is the first time I've been called a liar since I was at school. My mother taught me to tell the truth and if I couldn't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
