Not if you just fill the saved calories with other food/drink.
The only way to lose weight is to burn more energy than you eat - so a regime of more exercise and controlled calorie intake *will* work - but only if the calorie intake is lower than the amount used each day.
Unless you are going to start running marathons, you probably need to keep the calorie intake under about 1200 per day to make much of an impact.
Good luck - I could also do with losing a good few kilos and it's proving irritatingly difficult to get started - there always seems to be an "I'll start next week" reason/excuse :+(

Ric.Ror is female, islay - and I was talking about an initial hit rather than a permanent diet - probably need more like 1600 for a longer period of weight loss and around 2000 for maintenance.
For a male I'd say 1500 for a while (to re-educate the appetite) and then 1800 for the long haul diet and 2300 for maintenance.

Cutting out sugars and refined carbs is an excellent place to start. Fill your plate / container / bowl with an abundance of veggies before adding your proteins and carbs.
Eggs have been proven to burn fat and particularly target belly fat. You can eat as many eggs as you like and they will have no impact on your cholesterol levels.
Also extensive and emerging research has shown that people with a good abundance of gut bacteria are much slimmer on average than those whose intestinal flora is deplete. Plenty of probiotics will help and apple cider vinegar helps to nourish good gut bacteria. It is also thought to aid in reducing cholesterol levels.

You need to lose a little weight....diets don't work....so forget that. Eat less, don't have seconds.....that is if you can ;-)
Probiotics, unless you have IBS, then forget them, there is no scientific evidence that they will affect health of longevity.
