i am planning to paint my living room this month and to be honest my biggest worry is cutting in. you can call it cheating but i have heard that there is a special bit of equipment called a paint guard which allows you to cut in without using masking tape and most important leaves it straight. has anyone used one? and if so is it worth me getting one? they are about 4.99 i think! thanks.
It really is not all that difficult to cut in just go all the way round first with all the cutting in then use your large brush or roller, dont rush it, if you really want to use a paint guard i have to say it is more difficult as paint tends to creep underneath, good luck !
i can see where your coming from when you say that paint creeps under the guard. are you suggesting that i use masking tap?
surely you can`t use free hand when cutting in.
Like d..... said cutting in is not difficult, if you are adept at painting etc......My hubby is good at that, but not me, a complete novice......bought said guard used it on georgian door (15 glazes) perfectos! Yes, I know you can tape it but it served me well....and I used it on the stairs (2 flights - maisonette) against skirting (stop it going on the carpet lol!)...So give one a go, but do hold it firmly, as druiaghtagh says it can seep/creep under......
