My neighbour has installed a woodburning stove with the flue situated at the side of his house overlooking my back garden just 3 feet away from the patio. I don't think he needed planning permission but it is such an eyesore - is there anything I can do?
If the stove is classed as an 'exempt appliance' then, as long as 'wood logs' are shown here, your neighbour can burn them in it even if you live in a smoke control zone:

(That list is for England; there are similar ones for other parts of the UK)
I suppose he had the option to put it through the roof...but I'm sure that would have been far more expensive with more upheaval.
Just view it as adding a bit of character to his house.
Thanks for the replies - the dog has shown a dislike too barking and jumping on the table (!) but I thought I'd post the pic with him in it so you could gauge the size of the flue. I guess I'll just have to get used to it - maybe put up a pergola with climbing plants. It is annoying though and to be honest it's more intrusive than the pic makes out. Lovely sight to open the curtains to in the morning. Not.
