Is there anything I can take in my condition for hot flushes? They're really intense - especially in the afternoons. :-(

My only advice at this stage in your pregnancy is to take 2or 3 cold showers a day ( if possible)...one before you go to work, one at lunchtime and then one before you go to bed.
Also those "wipes" can't remember their name in your handbag are cooling an useful.

Not sqad but I have had them for almost 20 years now. Setting aside HRT and hormonal remedies, there is stuff called clonidine but the side effects look unpleasant, also antidepressants have been said to give some relief

Personally I have tried all the complementary therapies, which did nothing, and HRT which turned me into a seriously violent witch. What I found works is dressing in layers and in natural fibres, keeping the environment cool, drinking more water and having a good swear.
I did try going sugar free which didn't help, tried going caffeine and alcohol free which didn't help, mind you I am not a huge user of either. Giving up curries and the heating spices didn't help either. I haven't tried the clonidine or anti depressants because I am used to them now and when I was looking for treatment, neither were available. Exercise is said to help but frankly I am not that desperate :)

Thanks for the answers. I know about Clonidine, Venlafaxine and Norethisterone as we prescribe them for patients suffering Tamoxifen-related hot flushes, but I'm unsure what I can take in pregnancy.
It doesn't help that I'm the only one in the office without a fan on my desk, as some light-fingered sod nicked mine.

Try these tips to keep cool:
•Wear layers of loose clothing. You can then remove layers if you feel too hot.
•Wear clothes made from natural fibres, such as cotton and linen, which allow more air to circulate near your skin.
•Keep your bedroom cool to help you sleep better through night-time flushes. If it’s hot during the day, leave the curtains closed so your room doesn’t warm up.
•Buy a spray bottle and fill it with water. Spritz your face regularly to cool you down. Or keep a hand-held mini fan in your bag.
•Take an extra shower a day to help you feel fresh. Pop some wipes in your bag to freshen your face while you’re at work.
