I've just learned, whilst on holiday, of the death of an elderly gentleman In our village. He was 94 and was a bit of a devil right to the end. He had a special seat next to the bar and I loved to have a chat to him and buy him the odd drink. Somehow a certain thread of the tapestry which makes up my life seems to have been unravelled.
If you have someone in your local community whom you value, could you just check that they're ok tonight or tomorrow? You never know when it will be someone you cherish.

Awww... sorry zacs xx I know a few local characters- some I work for. You'll miss him, but it's nice to know he enjoyed your company.

Thanks pixie. I always knew I'd miss the old devil but not quite so much. Say hi to all,the characters you know, have a cheeky word with them. You don't know when they'll be gone.
I know... and I will. It's surprising how much difference they make sometimes. Are you able to go to his funeral? Or has it been?
Question Author
Only just happened today so I will be taking a couple of hours off for his funeral. X
That's a lovely post, Zacs...x
I know how you feel zacs. I've known some lovely old boys in our village, and it certainly has an effect on you when they go.
Question Author
Gness, he was the one I posted about a while ago and I gave him a hug from you. I feel really daft but it's affected me more than i thought it would.

Thanks gulliver. AB can be cathartic at times.
We lived in a village for a couple of years and we had a character like yours at our local.
He too died and one night in the pub I sat in his empty chair. The landlord said Bill won't like that you know.
Suddenly all the cigarettes on the shelf flew off and landed on the floor.
I got off Bills chair and never sat in it again!
Beautiful indeed Zacs, they really are part of the fabric of our lives and we should pass on their tales.x
I am sorry he died Zacs, but you will have lovely memories of him.

I have known people like that.
