I treated myself to a designer pair of frames - John Rocha- they were £125 plus the lenses. Yesterday I went to put them on and the right arm literally just fell off. I took them to where I bought them and said look it's just fallen off, they're only a couple of months old. Had the Spanish Inquisition! Have you stood on them? No. Have you sat on them? No. Have you dropped them? No!
He then says he'll need to replace the entire frame. Why? Coz pin has snapped. Erm just replace pin?? No can't do that. Well how much will this cost? Same price as you paid in first place. How come?? Oh because these lenses won't fit in new frame so we'll have to replace them too.
Forget that I told him - that's ridiculous! Well try superglue he said, and off he walks!!

it was actually Specsavers who told me I had cataracts. I've always found them fine. But they're a franchise operation, not one big company, so you've just fallen into the hands of a village idiot.
No disrespect Smow, but for all he knows, you might have trod on them etc, and he has heard it all before from customers in the past.

No excuse for his rudeness though.

Take the advice from above.
trt, it sounds as if the pin just worked loose; treading on the glasses won't do that. It might twist or break the arm, but that doesn't seem to be what happened to Smow, and an optician ought to be able to tell that at a glance.
In my experience this is unusual for Specsavers. Our local one is excellent. I had a rimless pair that snapped. The frame was discontinued, but they put the lenses into a similar one - no charge.

I think I've just had bad luck. Whenever I go into our local branch it's packed, I can never get a seat even when I've booked an appointment and I end up standing about in the actual shop like an idiot for at least half hr.
