The subject matter is old fashioned for its time, reminiscent of the still life paintings favoured by the Victorian gentry for their dining rooms, such as this one:

Miro has tried to put a modern twist to it by the use of cubism, popularised by Picasso but the subject matter is out of step with the 1920s fashion and style - maybe that was the point the artist was trying to make.
