Outlook Express, Problem Logging Onto My Mail Server
6 Answers
I tried to gain access to any recent emails that I might have received, but I keep getting a window popping up, asking me to "please enter your user name for the following server"
It has two windows with my user name and password in, and although these seem correct, this window keeps popping up ever time I try and gain access to my emails.
Please can anyone help because I am expecting an important email?

Outlook Express was part of XP and neither XP nor Outlook Express are being updated or supported by Microsoft.
For that reason you need to switch to a more recent version of Windows and you email client.

Outlook Express is notorious for screwing up its settings. The reason it doesn't like your username and password is probably because it's trying to access the wrong server.
The easiest way to fix the problem is simply to delete your mail account and then create it again. (You won't lose any existing mail. It's only the settings you'll be deleting, not actual mail).
If you need more information please tell us which email provider you're using. (i.e. what comes after the @ sign in your email address).

Hi Buenchico
Unfortunately my grandson was unable to come round last night, but says he will come tonight, all being well.
You asked "what comes after the @ sign in my email address."
It is ntlworld.com
If I delete my present account will it allow me to create another, using the same email address that I am using now?
