Hi, Following 8 months of living with an awful bathroom suite, we've finally decided to have it replaced, but on a very limited budget. Some questions for any helpful people out there. 1. how much roughly would it cost for a plumber to install a bathroom suite, in same place as old but would need some new pipes etc as is an old house? 2. has anyone used the B and Q installation service? If so, is it any good and how much does it cost? Any help or advice muchly appreciated. Live in Nottingham by the way if this has any bearing on things. Thanks, RosyPosy
Hi
I recently installed a new bathroom suite (B+Q madrid - 289 by the way!) and paid the plumber 200 to do it. I was installing it roughly in the same place but had to shift the bath slightly.
I was doing it from scratch on a budget, so if you need any other advice let me know!
No i didnt tile the bathroom. I kept the original electric shower (the only think i did keep) and pulled off the original tiles.
My shower is over the end of the bath and I got panelling put around the walls of the bath, and painted the rest of the room in bathroom paint (cheaper and also easy to change the colour sheme as the walls are the only colour in the room!)
I broke the old suite up and took it to the local dump!
I think my breakdown of costs was:
suite - 280
replastering the walls - 180
plumber - 200
flooring - 50
panelling - 150
then other stuff like adhesive,.paint, radiator paint etc came to about 50. I cut down on labour costs by painting the walls myself and getting a family member to fit the pannelling!
You can get a basic bathroom suite (toilet, bath and basin) for around 200-250, though you can spend a lot more, and to have them fitted in the same places, more or less, as exisitng will cost you around 200 too. Tiling and showers you will pay extra for
