I had a medical back massage abroad last week. About half hour later I bent over to move a sunbed and have been in pain ever since. Initially I thought it was a sciatica type pain but the pain is left lower back. Its very difficult (No laughing) to put socks and knickers on....particularly when i stand on left leg and raise right leg. Theres lots of excercises on the internet but dont want to make it worse. I Struggle getting up off sofa but once up im ok. Sneezing is extremely painful. Any ideas if this is muscular....nerve....ot disc?
I suppose it depends on exactly what the "medical back massage" entailed and if you've ever had any previous problems there.
Could be muscle spasm which is trying to protect some local damage?
Specialised massage for medical and clinical to neck and back for problems of the locomotory system...muscle spasms...radiculitis...sciatica..arthroses. ive had stiff neck for years ( degenerative discs c5-7). Ive never had my very lower back massaged and convinced it has some connection to my ongoing pain x
From your post. I agree with gingejbee, it does sound muscular rather than a nerve, although it's character could change in the next 48 hours which would make me change my mind.
Yes, as gingejbee suggests it may be due to muscle spasm. protecting some underlying vertebral wear and tear.
I would forget exercises for the moment and go with Ibuprofen tablets and/or gel and take it easy over the weekend, when the picture will become clearer.
