Prescription Prepayment Certificate Refund
3 Answers
Mrs Hymie is due to celebrate her sixtieth birthday in the near future, and so will be eligible for free NHS prescriptions.
Can she claim a refund for the amount she has over paid on her annual prescription prepayment certificate (on a pro-rata basis)?
Looking at the NHS website, most of the info on refunds relates to claiming for prescriptions paid for before obtaining a prepayment certificate, with nothing on refunds for the outstanding period of the certificate, once the patient becomes eligible for free prescriptions.
If such refunds are paid, how are they claimed?

"You become entitled to free prescriptions or go into hospital and stay there until your PPC expires"
"During months 1 to 11 – proportional refund
During month 12 – no refund
i suppose the way to avoid this is to buy 3 month ones rather than annual ones as one gets near the free prescription age
