Simplicity really, you could bleach and boil them without fear of altering the dye.

Modern terries can be bought in colours/patterns.
Long ago, Baz it was so you could enter the competition for who has the whitest nappies blowing on the line..... ;-)

who ?

There are good alternatives to disposables now, not just terry squares but shaped nappies.
Question Author
Anyway, why would folk nowadays still use TN - is it a cost thing ?
I lot of people use them for environmental reasons, Bazile - they don't want disposables going in landfills
Works out better for the environment have never fully costed it out so don't know re economy side.

My Daughter used cloth nappies for her first two, but went back to disposables when baby number three arrived.
One has to question the environmental benefit of terry nappies. Wear and tear on the washing machine/tumble drier; the water used to wash; the dirty water going back in the system; the chemicals in the washing powder/liquid; the electricity used to wash and dry.

It was my job to rinse out the nappies before washing them. Thank goodness for nappie liners.
