Quick solution to the Kim Jong Un problem. Neither China nor Russia like the USA influence in the region, South Korea and Japan being the USA's biggest allies. If China and Russia join the USA to remove little fatso, by force if necessary, then reunite Korea. At this point, USA remove their weapons and influence in Korea. China and Russia happy, lasting peace in Korea.

China was NK's sole ally at a time when China felt under threat. These days I think they would be happy to wash their hands of the lot of them.

Difficult to argue with that.

Thanks Jackdaw, do you think it would get me a job on the UN security council?
Doubt it. You sound far too sane and sensible.
I assume that you're expecting a unified Korea to have a democatic government. Somehow or other, I can't quite see the Chinese leaders rushing to restore democracy anywhere in the world, as the message it would send to its own citizens might get them rather worried.

Further, can you really imagine that the twerp in the Whitehouse would actually agree to the reduction of US influence anywhere in the world?
Who's going to deal with the problem of all those bliddy former North Koreans coming dahn sarf and building Hyundais for two bob a time?

As Little Fatso has proved he has the capability to hit Guam, known as the biggest aircraft carrier in the world, The Donald may have to do something. What would China prefer, US influence, or a slightly larger Korean democracy that will be tied up for many years in integrating the North.

Couldn't agree more Jackdaw, have a Best Answer on me.
China would prefer the third option of the North behaving itself. Failing that, taking over the whole Korean region and removing the North South animosity. This probably conflicts with the US preference of the South taking over the region and removal of the trouble causing government in the North. But there's nowt wrong with fantasy propositions. They're fun to speculate.
