Failed Tablet Repair - Rights

Tablet had dodgy charging port. It would charge, but you couldn't move it at all whilst charging or the charger got loose in its port and stop charging. Took it to a repair shop and when I got it home it wouldn't charge at all. Took it back, they claimed a faulty part & fixed it again. Was ok for a week, now it won't charge again. What are my rights?

After having it repaired by someone other than the manufacturer.......nil.

If a trader promises to (satisfactorily) repair something, and fails to do so, you have the right to get them to repeat the repair unless there's a reason why it's impossible for them to do so. (Under those circumstances you'd have the right to some, and possibly all, of your money back):

Wasn't considering involving the manufacturer tbh. Wondering if I can ask the repair shop to replace it? If they had mentioned a risk they might *** it completely I would have thought twice.

Why did you not go back to the manufacturer? Was it out of warranty?

ZacsM - yes, well out of warranty but apart from the charge port a great tablet for our meagre needs. Sony Xperia Z 10". It's outside of our means to be able to replace and our young daughter loved playing games on it.

The best you could hope for is that they'd finally get the job done properly!
