Thank You

I'd say about a year 18 months maybe most of you signed a petition to allow Diabetics to have a CGM on the NHS rather than having to fork out a small fortune.
We did it!
So on behalf of myself and other Diabetics I'd like to say thank you very much from the bottom of my heart to you all for helping make it happen.

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a process that allows you to track your glucose continuously throughout the day and night, notifying you of highs and lows so you can take action. The Dexcom G5 Mobile Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System is FDA-approved to help minimize the guesswork that comes from making decisions based solely on a number from a blood glucose meter reading, for better diabetes management.*

You disappeared off my list cuddly one. But I can still catch you here.
Thank you Arky :)
It is HC. I would have one but I couldn't afford it and I thought it was a bit unfair that those who may benefit most couldn't have it, so I'm super chuffed it's being made possible.
PP - you can see a difference. As it gives you a run down of - can't quite remember how long - but when I trialled it I was able to pick up where there was sudden spikes or drops and was able to adjust my dosage accordingly. A friend has been on hers 8 months and has halved her hbA1c.

"can you show the results are better ?
( glucose meters I thought you couldnt)"
CGM is the future for diabetics....type1 now and eventually Type 2.
It is an invaluable tool and if even only used for one week, then the patient will certainly realise what foods, what situations are to be avoided and hence learn about their new enforced lifestyle.
Whether or not they will follow the trends is another point altogether.
Are the results better you ask............better control of diabetes means better kidney function, better blood supply to various organs and a much better prognosis......So Yes the results are better.
I would bet that sooner or later, these gadgets will be used by sports enthusiasts who themselves are not diabetics.
A huge step forward for mankind........

Queenie, my son has been self funding this for a number of months now and has seen a significant difference in his hba1c as a result. I'm absolutely chuffed to bits that NICE have approved it and it will now be available to all type 1s. We as a family feel it is an extremely significant breakthrough in diabetes control. Between this, and the dafne course, it could be absolutely life changing for so many people. Yay!!
