How does one get an old photo in a frame onto Facebook. thanks

The ways of getting such a printed image onto any website are:
(a) remove it from its frame, scan it with either a dedicated scanner or the scanning part of an all-in-one printer and then upload the resultant file to the relevant site ;
(b) remove it from its frame, take a photograph of it with a digital camera (or mobile phone) and then upload that image ; or
(c) leave it in its frame, take a photograph of it and upload the file.

Method (a) is best because it gets rid of problems with focussing the image and with unwanted reflections from it. Method (b) is better than Method (c) because you don't have to worry about reflections from the glass.

thanks Chris for your lengthy answer. It was a school photo of a person and I just wondered how it got onto Facebook but I do know now.

Jenny, did you manage to do it?
recently I've done the same thing, I took a photo with my camera and uploaded it to Fb (I've done it in the morning when there were enough lights)
but it is better if you scan it, the quality should be better

PS - the photo of the little dog was taken by my friend's camera and she emailed it to me and through that powers that be I managed to get it on here as an Avatar. LOL
