Google Chrome Bookmarks

The Google Chrome bookmarks bar is showing icons which don't have anything to do with the bookmark. For example the Answerbank bookmark has the Facebook icon, another has the AA icon but is nothing to do with the AA. Windows 8.1. It's not affecting the way the bookmark works but I'm puzzled as to why.

Sorry I went awol Edmund, I have just unexpectedly spent the afternoon watching the Llandudno Lifeboat launching and re landing during a drill. It is a new Lifeboat and this afternoon was a first full drill. I only nipped out for 10 mins and a pal told me about it, so I went to watch. " She who must be obeyed" thought I had left home as I didnt even have my phone with me....

I think that Pokki download may have something to do with your icons issue as one of the things it does is "manage" your apps launch and pin and manage your bookmarks. I would get rid of it if it is showing in your programme list. Have a look at the link. Read through before you decide to do anything.

I would firstly, after reading the link through, clear your cache and history without letting any programmes offered in the link...IMPORTANT. Just follow the 2. Manual Pokki Virus Removal method that is at the bottom of the link. Go into your systems settings and uninstall Pokki and/ or Pokki install helper. You may have to also get rid of Pokki extensions, as per the instructions in the link, in Tools-Extensions.
Can't disagree TermLife, but I do try not to be too alarmist in Tech because some posters are not as adept as others when it comes to the "ways and means" involved. I would still recommend that Edmund uninstalls anything to do with Pokki, and then runs a full Defender security scan afterwards. If he is running third party security programmes( not necessary) he should run them as well. Not the quick scans.
Well done Edmund, you are on the ball then. Do forgive me for nosing, but as your thread was running I had a snoop into your profile and noticed that just before your icon issue you had posted a browser issue question. Prior to both these posts you had been looking for a cheap flight to India. I wondered if this had a tie in to the Pokki virus if you had accessed sites generated in India itself. As I said not prying just curious.
