Remember that he has to serve the 30 years before he can even begin the process of applying for parole. That will take at least another 3 years with a very small chance of success.
But then he may not want to get out, a homeless drug using tramp , now has a warm room of his own ( all 'lifers' are automatically entitled to single cell accommodation) 3 fresh cooked meals a day plus free clothing ,laundry and TV for at least the next 30 years.

Why are you always rude to some?
Read what YMB actually put:
/// Some do-gooder will try to him out after 5 years or so no doubt. Lets hope that the 30 years min stands good. ///
The poster has already put "Lets hope that the 30 years min stands good".
But that doesn't stop some do gooder, trying for an appeal, it is not unknown.

AOG You can ONLY appeal the verdict on a murder charge NOT the sentence , as I said there is only ONE possible sentence 'Life'.
To appeal the verdict you must get proof that there is substantial new evidence that was not available to the original trial then ask for permission to appeal. It is a rare , though not unknown event.
