I have a lump the size of a Malteser on the front of my neck near my windpipe. I think it may be a boil or abscess or just a spot with no 'head'. It moves but is attached to skin. I only noticed it a couple of days ago.
I put some spot cream on it but nothing happened. Is there anything else that I can put on it to make it go away?
It is a little painful and I have taken some Paracetemols. I cant take Ibuprofen.
Well at least it moves. Might it be a small cyst due to a blocked gland ? You could just see if it goes of its own accord, but if it sticks around then, since you can't sort it, I'd then suggest getting your GP to check it out.
It's a thyroglossal cyst from your description.
Not malignant, not cancerous......no big deal.
See your GP to confirm my on-line diagnosis from your description.
Ah!!!!!....just read your post again....."attached to the skin".......
a better diagnosis is a sebaceous cyst...same again, not malignant and no big deal.
Yes, good thinking wolf......my first diagnosis was a bit hasty but my second will be spot on.
Sebaceous cysts may become infected, so keep an eye on increasing pain, redness and tenderness which my indicate the need for antibiotics as suggested by NoM.
Bloody BAs....give mine to Buenchico, he collects them.
Sqad, I have my flu jab on Saturday (diabetic). I take it there shouldn't be a problem. The lump has shrunk a bit but is still there. I am due to go and see GP to discuss my fluctuating Lithium Serum levels in near future so if lump still there I will mention it.
Spreeny - thanks for your sensible suggestion. It is a new lump and it has decreased in size so I will see how it goes.
