But all these big space and engine type businesses actually often work sort of hand to mouth.
My brother works for a sat alive company. Airbus I think? Not sure. but he is always saying the teams work for specific projects and don't know from one project to the next if they will have a job.

2000 distributed across the country isn't that bad. Many will go through natural wastage, retirement or resignation. Voluntary redundancy will be a treat for others, enforced redundancy will only affect a small number.
As Prudie has said if the orders aren't there, they're not there. Perhaps BAEs Business Development team need to get their finger out and look further afield for business opportunities?
