I liked 'IT' best but I haven't read them all.
I didn't enjoy 'It' at all - I have read over twenty of King's novels, and my Top Three are Christine', 'Salem's Lot' and 'The Stand' - the latter - extended version - is the best.
"IT" gave me nightmares...

the best one for me has to be"the shining"...
Yeah I would say The Shining, definately. Very scary, much more so than the film.

i just read hes new book called CELL its the best ive read or mayby on par with the DARK TOWER COLLECTION which is equally fantastic
For me it's a close call between Gerald's Game, or a collection of stories under his Bachman name (possibly Skeleton Crew?). One of the stories was called The Long Walk and it's awesome.
I'm not keen on reading SK novels, but the few memorable ones include:

-IT
-Pet Cemetary

Thats about it.

PS- is he really a crazed pychopath?
i liked the dark tower series and salems lot and IT still give me nightmares! ooh and cujo
Dolores Claiborne & Desperation. I couldn't put either of those down...The Stand & Geralds Game are also high on the list.
I agree with Boo, the Long Walk was brilliant.
i read the devil rides out ages ago and found it really scarey but when i saw the film it was'nt scary at all, a bit rubbishy really.
Question Author
did you read the one from skeleton crew called survivor type its gross
Actually devilwoman, The Devil Rides Out was written by Dennis Wheatley, a British novelist who was deeply involved in the british Secret Service during the war. His novels are necessarily of their time, so some of the characters seem a bit creaky when read with modern eyes, but his horror novels are excellent.
has to be the shinning
misery is also a good read much better than the film.
Christine is my favourite followed by Misery;Dolores Claiborne. The Green Mile was excellent and Bag of Bones was very moving.
thanks for that andy, i dont read many horrers as you can tell, i prefer stories of love and tragedy so i can have a goodol weep.
The Stand is definitely his best work. I have read a lot of his books, and that stands out above the others. It is quite lenghty, but don't be deterred by this, it is a rip-roaring read that will whizz by.
Having read all of Stephen King's books, the Dark Tower series is undoubtedly the best. Those who might be put off reading it, thinking it might be some sort of 'western' - it most certainly isn't and you should try it. If you love 'The Stand' you'll love this even more!
Nightmares and Dreamscapes ....it's still 1 book (technically)
