Nizlopi "JCB Song"
Bought a compilation CD yesterday called "The Bands 06" and in the credits for Nizlopi's JCB Song it says
The lyric "Don't forget your shovel if you want to go to work" is featured courtesy of Christie Hennessy
Now I'm used to seeing samples and suchlike given credit but never a particular line, anybody know what that's about?

The brilliant JCB song by Nizlopi includes the line Singing Dont Forget Your Shovel If You Want To Go To Work. This line in taken directly from Christie Hennessys song Dont Forget Your Shovel, a song widely regarded as Irelands alternative national anthem Few people realise that Hennessy wrote the song in response to Enoch Powells outburst in the early 70s. Powell, a UK Conservative Minister at the time, advocated giving money to the Africans to go back to Africa, and a shovel to the Irish to dig their way back to Ireland. Christiewrote the song as a protest.Even Christy Moore missed the significance when he first recorded the song which went on to give Moore his first no 1 single and as Moore admits today, launch his career. Moore mistakenly recorded Dont Forget Your Shovel as the final line in the song instead of Dont Get Yourself A Shovel (if you dont want to go back). Coincidentally, like Luke from Nizlopi, Christie Hennessy is also severely dyslexic. He writes his songs by singing ideas onto cassette tapes then gradually pieces them together . Christie was delighted to sanction the use of the line when Luke first approached him.
