This is the first time I have posted a question. Forgive me if I have not followed the correct format. Could 10ac be garfish instead of raffish. Garish is flashy with f for beginning of fliers

Raffish- RAF(fliers) +fish
Hi Soupyonbass - it's nice to post the full clue so that people without the puzzle can more readily help :-)

Flashy fliers leading swimmers (7)

Raffish (flashy) - 'RAF' (fliers) + 'fish' (swimmers)

Thank you for your help. The full clue for 10ac is "flashy fliers leading swimmers". My thoughts are the answer is garish which means showy, gaudy or over decorated=flashy. Insert f for fliers leading and you have garfish which are swimmers. I can see your thinking with raffish but not sure it means flashy

Thanks everyone for your input. Still a little undecided, not sure whether the answer is the first or last word of the clue.
Flashy is the definition , there's is no instruction in the clue to insert the first letter of fliers into another word.
