Is there such a thing as a cure for eczema? The only help I have is the use of emollients, to help nourish the skin, but these don't clear the problem or stop the itching. Advice welcome.

Then you move to Hydrocortisone creams and Betnovate (as Pixie has said). Locoid follows, but you should be seeing your GP for help if the Hydrocortisone doesn't work. You have to use Hydroc. sparingly because over-use thins the skin even more - and not on the face.
Best thing is to try to avoid whatever is currently bringing it on. I first started with it on my hands with the chemicals involved in nappy-buckets. Other times I have found it occurs when I peel potatoes (then it is OK). Some washing-up liquids are hellish for me (especially the much-vaunted 'Fairy'). We don't know what has started my husband getting it on his legs for the last few months, we're trying omitting various possible irritants one at a time. It can even be dietary!
It's a bore, take it into account in your life and then just get on with living. There are a lot of us! PS Try to avoid scratching - difficult when you are asleep!
