that should do it ☺☺☺

Rather than read from the SD card, transfer the files to your pc first.

Thanks Slackalice but I would hate to lose the card contents so could you advise a novice how best to transfer them please? Thanks

I have now copied all from dashcam to pc but have still not been able to view with either of suggestions made. Any further advice please? Thanks Tel,
Does your user manual not recommend some software to view the video?
Question Author
That is the trouble with purchasing goods made in China, Chinese instructions. ,!!
Nearly all the dashcams are made in China but usually come with English manuals.
I can only suggest that you contact Amazon and see what they say.
Alternatively, send it back as unsuitable and get this one instead:

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

That's also Chinese but it works very well and uses the Russian Datakam software. That allows you to "group" several clips and view them as a complete journey, including seeing it on a satellite view or a map. Currently there are problems with that but you can get it to show you a track on Google Earth.
According to the description the File Format is AVI/JPG if this is so then VLC should play the clips. I’m wondering if VLC is not the default player for this format so it may be worth right clicking on one of the clips and selecting “Open with” and then choosing VLC media player
Question Author
Definitely a AVI file but VLC will not open it. Hope there are more suggestions out there.
I suggest you contact Zoto via links on the Amazon page and ask them what'as going on.
AVI files can be encoded with a variety of video and audio codecs and there may be some that VLC does not play. I would have thought it unusual that footage from a dash cam would be encoded in an unusual codec but stranger things are not rare. You may need to contact the Manufacturer/Supplier to find out if you need to download a specific codec pack
