Ok so today after work we were meant to drive up to Stoke on Trent to continue house renovating. To save Mr Smow coming all way home then starting the 200 mile drive from here we agreed he’d get train from central London to Staines station and I’ll drive there to pick him up. Then we’d carry on journey. So he gets train towards Staines. I leave in car to drive there. M25 was gridlocked due to accident and everyone going away for half term. Took me 1.5 hours. I get there. Wait for his train. He arrives looking very very guilty. He then says “ you’re going to kill me but I’ve left the keys to the house in Stoke at home”. Aaaggghh!!!!! So we then have to get back in car to do the exact journey I’ve literally just done!! By the time I get home I’ve done a 4 hr round trip to end up where I started! At home! He then says. “ right shall we be off now?” Sorry??.. I’ve just spent 4 hours going nowhere!!
So I have sulking Mr Smow right now.....

^^ AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
David... Are you following me? I'm flattered, but I'm spoken for.
Not at all, it's just that putting -eth on the end of words and thinking that that's mediaeval English or, worse, that it's funny really grinds my gears!

Sorry... :-(
Listen up grumpy guts, I wasn't trying to be a comedienne.

I get irritated by words such as "hubby" and "preggers" but I didn't admonish you for using one of those on my Burger thread!

Go and get some bacon and a pint of Guiness and, for the love of God, cheer up!
Apologies for my use of the word "hubbie". I won't do it again.
Lol, Dave also people who say “‘twas” or “‘tis” Ect.... what’s up with that? It’s a butchering of the English language and isn’t justified EVER unless you’ve came here on a time machine? This is modern Britain which has no time for”ye old English
Rustle me up a bacon sarnie and we'll never mention it again ...

;-)
I have no problem with mediaeval English if it's used correctly, but the weird notion that every word in mediaeval English had "-eth" on the end really irritates! I guess I'm just an old grump, as NoM said, and I really should make more of an effort not to be quite so horrified by such things.
There are far worse atrocities against the English language committed on AB daily!
'twas ever thus. :-)
Tis that, Yilly.
My advice is....put the house keys on the same ring as the car keys....after all, you can't up north without the car, can you ?

I do the same with my caravan keys.
