Capital One Compaint

Hi all,
My boyf. got into some financial difficulties and could not afford to pay capital one the monthly payment for his credit card.
When I realised that he had gone over his limit and started incurring ridiculus charges, I started to make the payments for him.
He called Cap one and explained that he wanted to give authoirity to his girfriend to deal with the account. The call agent was very helpful and set up a repayment plan which I then agreed to pay on set dates.
I have called to make this payment today, however I do not have my records to hand. Capital One refuse to tell me how much needs to be paid top mainstain the credit agreement. They insist no notes are on the system and were very unhelpful. I asked to speak to a supervisor, to which I was informed that I was speaking to a manager.
My boyf is at work and does not have access to a telephone. If I do not make the payment today, the agreement is broken anyway. So I guessed that 30 would cover the amount and paid this. I was told when I made the agreement, that if the agreed amount was not paid, my boyf, would incurr charges.
Am I right to be annoyed? What can I do about this? A work colleague of mine thinks that this is totally reasonable in light of data protection. But being unable to tell me an amount? That seems so stupid!
Thanks, and apologies for the mini rant :-)
