Its been a long time since I was a guest of Her Majesty but my sons mate is currently a guest at the prison in the link above.
1) For how long have homosexual prisoners been given condoms?
2) Does this mean that sexual behaviour in prisons is condoned now?
3) Are heterosexual been discriminated against?

(BTW, my sons mate is bisexual but has never mentioned anything about this when he's phoned...will have to find out more when he's released in a couple of weeks.)

hc, how do you know this happens? have you been to prison? Do you work in a prison?

I have contact with ex-prisoners, nailit, and a few have caught genital herpes around the mouth area.

Well that's ^ a new one on me then hc. In all the time I've spent inside I've never come across a heterosexual male that becomes jail bent, not even lifers who havnt had a woman for years. Maybe your ex prisoners with herpes were homosexual/bisexual to start with?

Perhaps they are providing the condoms to try and stop the spread of diseases, ie it is better to be prepared than not be. Just because you have condoms doesn't mean you have to have sex!

Then why request condoms if you arnt going to have sex? For cell decoration as balloons?
The point is, it seems that homosexual prisoners are now allowed to indulge in sexual activity (which was once...at least in my day...punishable) when heterosexual prisoners cant.

I think a few people on this thread are seeing things that are not there Islay, like believing that all prisoners are treated equally when they arnt. Homosexual cons are now catered for while heterosexual cons arnt.
I'm all for prison reform but a part of the punishment of been in prison is that you are denied sexual intimacy. If a heterosexual con has sex with a female (prison worker) both he and the female would be punished.

^ Exactly what I found when working in a prison. The showers bit is just a joke the old lags use to scare newcomers, nothing in it. Any male prisoner asking another for a *** would get a blow but not the type they were thinking of , more like a kick in the balls!
