Competitive Poppy-Wearing

Just seen a presenter on Countryfile wearing a poppy. It's the 22nd of October, for goodness sake - way too early. I hate this look-at-how-much-I care early wearing of poppies, especially on TV. I always wear one, but in November.

yes, douglas, my father was one of them - gave up five years of his life in the RAF in WW2, so I don't need any lectures from you or anyone else on here about the significance of the poppy, and what it stands for. As I said in my post I always wear one; my point was that in my opinion wearing one so early lessens the impact they should have.

And you're entitled to that opinion. What you may be less entitled to do is foist that opinion on the rest of us.

Maybe have a word with the Royal British Legion about either starting sales later or alternatively supplying something to keep the poppy in to stop it getting crushed or wrinkled along with a list of approved dates for wearing.

You seem to be getting mixed up with what is an opinion you are quoting, what is an opinion you agree with, and being pompous about people who haven't served in the armed forces.

It is you who needs to 'keep up'.
