65 Answers
The only local butchers to me has closed, and is being re-opened with new owners as a Halal butchers next week. Having never been into a Halal butchers myself, what are you thoughts?
Does anybody buy from one? Does the meat taste different in any way?
Or would you you not buy from them at all?

The only difference with halal slaughter is that a reversible stunning method is used, while conventional humane slaughter may use an irreversible stunning method.
The time to regain consciousness following a reversible stun may vary depending on the intensity of the stun. At Australian abattoirs, the aim is to ensure that reversible stunning is done in a way that the depth of unconsciousness is sufficient to allow for the animal to bleed out and die before there is a chance of regaining consciousness.

When may the rest of the world catch up with humane practices.
And yes the last comment was tongue in cheek because if we eat animals they must die. Amazed by peoples disregard to seafood killing methods, don't they feel pain?

was once at a London wedding..a goat was slaughtered in the gutter outside..throat slit.. then reappeared as goat curry later on.... did not have any and would never go to such a wedding again... the ethnic origin of the bridal pair was a clue as to what would be served, but did not expect things to go that far
