I'm currently taking 600mg of Ibuprofen every 4-5 hours for this nightmare of a toothache. What's the maximum amount that can be taken over 24 hours?

Thanks

Can you manage yoghurt? Not only is it smooth and easy on the mouth, it really helps te stomach deal with the antibiotics.

In the meantime, alternate ibuprofen with paracetamol every two hours and dont wait until the pain is bad, just keep to the 2hourly cycle.

I can eat yoghurt no problem and I bought the friendly bacteria ones because if the antibiotics. But isn't yoghurt just another form of milk?
if you are taking mega ibuprofen then you should consider ranitidine also available over the counter

toxic effect are rarely seen below 100 mg/kg and if you are 60kg then that would be 6000 mg - and currently you are doing 3600.
some way to go

I would add in paracetamol - or cocodamol - havent we had this conversation - and you can easily go up to 4000mg on that as well - eight tabs spaced. I regard this as low.

(the loading dose [first dose] of paracetamol is 40mg/kg or 2400mg or five tablets as I have said before but all people do is say 'I read the side of the cornflake pkt and IT said....)

I've got some Co codamol which seem to be doing the job at the moment. I'll alternate them with the ibuprofen adn hopefully that'll take most of the edge off until the antibiotics kick in.
I've got some ranitidine and also some PPIs, what would be best to take, do you think?
I wouldn't bother to take Ranitidine or PPI, or yoghurt...... Just get on with your painkillers which work and antibiotics.
Let's make medicine simple eh.
