ipod dilemma

I think it's about time I joined the 21st century and got myself an ipod. But they seem a bit pricey and I was wondering if they are really worth the hype? Is the sound quality good? Will it be easy to use (I have been known to be a bit of a technophobe at times) or will I end up shouting at it? And will I be able to get some kind of device that makes it work through my car speakers? Last but not least, is there a danger that it's TOO good and it will take over my life?! I realise AB contributers in this section will probably laugh at my ignorance on this but any comments would be greatly appreciated - cheers.

They're great. Some on here will push you to go for another brand of mp3 player. I'd push you to get an iPod.

Including the software part of the package, it's the easiest to use. The sound quality is great.

There's the normal iPod and iPod nano. The nano is just a smaller version, but can't play videos and doesn't store as much music as the regular iPod. Perhaps goto a shop and have a play with them to see which you prefer. The nano may well suit your needs, and is cheaper.

As for the car system, you have many options. You might be able to get a special install system for your car, but this could be pricey. Or if you have a tape player you can use one of those tape adapters with it. Or you can buy FM transmitters for the iPod that turns your iPod into a small radio station so you can tune any radio into what your iPod is playing. The latter is illegal in the UK (it's like a pirate radio station), but I won't tell them if you don't ;) (also, it's very hard for them to find you, because it's got such a short transmitter range anyway).

I've got the 30gb video ipod and I don't know how I've managed all this time without it!! It's so better than taking a whole load of cd's in the car! My whole cd/record collection's on there and I have over 200 albums on it so far and loads of room for more!

They're alot easier to use than other mp3's as itunes is so easy to use and you won't regret it!

I've had mine for over a year and never had any problems and yes, it will take over your life as there's always something new you'll want to put on there!!
