Chris Packham: Asperger's And Me
98 Answers
Sorry if this has already been discussed. Did anyone watch this amazing programme on Tuesday night? I found it really moving. For most of his life, broadcaster and naturalist Chris Packham didn't tell anyone about the one thing that in many ways has defined his entire existence. Chris is autistic - he has Asperger's Syndrome, which means he struggles in social situations, has difficulty with human relationships and is, by his own admission, 'a little bit weird'.
Was on BBC2 and you can watch it on iPlayer.

It's over forty years since I worked with my first autistic child.....so much has changed over the years and we are always learning but there was so much in this programme to make us stop and reconsider our thoughts on autism....how very different every autistic person is.....and how we should be responding to individual needs.....
It really was the story of Jacob that brought me up sharp.....x

Just catching up on this thread and see I missed a chance to respond to V-E's little dig at my reply. Not that it amounted to a hill of beans.
I have no great feelings re Chris Packham one way or the other, but greater awareness of Autism etc is always a good thing.
I'm blessed with those in my life and they have taught me a lot.

Packham or not....(I adore him but then I have a thing for folk Like him)....it wasn't about Packham...it was about watching the programme and understanding .....even just a little...about people who are different....
And the more time I spend reading posts on AB the more I despair at how people who don't fit must suffer.......xxx
