I'm 68. Flying Leeds/Bfd to Schiphol and thence to Bangkok for a 10 days stay in January 2018. I have 2 hip replacements (latest 2014 and both solid), mild asthma (a couple of puffs every morning and a blue inhaler for emergencies) and a compressed nerve in my spine.

I walk at least 2 miles a day with dog, swim half a mile twice a week, volunteer in school, sing in a choir, am not overweight by more than 7lbs., am very active generally and am probably healthier than most 30-yr-olds these days.

I have a quote approaching £100, which insists hips etc. are covered additionally. I never had this 10 years ago when 1st hip went in.

Any recommendations on firms to approach for a more reasonable quote, please?

Thanks in advance. :)

Thanks, Buen. Will call in morning.
i suffer from asthma, high blood pressure, arthritis and hip bursitis to name but a few and got a quote from saga for £28 for a weeks stay in portugal last month which i thought was very reasonable.assuming that it wasn't them that quoted you i would give them a try.
typically, long-haul trips have higher premiums than short-haul, especially if flying you home when ill is involved.

Thanks, everyone. I tried the site Buenchico mentioned and got onto RAC ins. and booked it. £20 cheaper than others I've tried. Problem now is that I cant fathom their site and download the document - their print-off click was 63 pages! I have the policy no. and phone no., so will do that tomorrow. They can jolly-well send policy to me.

Thanks for that sherrard. I'll check house insurance. I may gnash my teeth, of course, but I'd know next time.
