OK Answerbankers it is the weekend! I want you to imagine you can have 3 meals anywhere in the world on the same day. Where would you eat and why? NB No distance restrictions apply as this is fantasyland.

A banquet in Japan with Saki; something terribly cheesy/creamy in France with Champagne; dips & curries in Africa with fresh juices; because I haven't perfected all these delights yet.
Seeing as it's fantasy land I am hoping that there is no restriction on time as well as distance....a bowl of my granny's broth followed by her amazing stew and dumplings...then a bowl of jaconelli's ice cream (with raspberry sauce of course) to finish with.....while I can do the last anytime I want, the former two are now sadly lost to old age and dementia.
Following on with STF42's time/distance theory, I would like breakfast with pre-historic man (then I could tell that 'Time Team' lot what really went on), childhood Sunday lunch with my Aunty Ive with real butter beans she soaked the night before and yorkshire puddings which had to be held down by gravy in case they floated away, and dinner at the court of King Henry Vlll for all the reasons that would entail...today's food is attainable from anywhere in the world, yesterdays food is sheer fantasy!

I suppose I should have offered my fantasy food day, well here goes. Breakfast would have to be at The Waves, Victoria Bay, South Africa, where there is always a message of the day written in the butter and the sea and surfers pass close by the verandah. Lunch would be a roast beef sandwich at The Stage Deli in San Fransisco, mmm to die for. Dinner is crisp roast duck and cranberries, followed by hazelnut meringue at The Polska Restaurant, Warsaw. Interestingly, I have not chosen to travel back in time although I deeply regret not finding out what my mothers secret was for making perfect scones.
Steak and Kidney pudding, chips and gravy (lots of salt, no vinegar, plastic fork) from Vinegar Jones (previously Heads and Tails) in Bowness-on-Windermere. Pot of mushy peas. Can of 'R Whites' lemonade. Crispy bits. Breakfast, dinner and tea.
As a guest of honour at the court of Genghis Khan, I'd opt for poached whole shark in cream and parsley sauce, crispy roast whole camel in honey sauce and curried yak pie with horns and all. (Finally, an after-dinner wafer-thin mint).
okay Breakfast in Seattle. A short stack with maple syrup and a side of canadian bacon with juice and coffee. Lunch at Bumbles restaurant in london. Chicken pancakes and banofee pie with a bottle of Moulin a vent. Dinner very late at the Satay Club in Singapore. Mixed satay with ketupat, the tropical fruit of a stall and coke to drink which would take me right back to my youth. To make the meals perfect, my DH would be there...well the last bit is doable anyway.
with 2 weeks left to go before the end of Lent, all my fantasies (and I means ALL of them) revolve around chocolate, so I reckon a cup of swiss hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat for breakfast on a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva. Across the border to France for a chocolate crepe sat outside a little cafe in Montmartre (obviously money no object in this fantasy), and finally I would jet over to New Orleans for a creole dinner of chicken in chocolate sauce. Now I'm just off to sniff a bar of dairy milk.........

Thanks everyone, my SO and I often have fantasy competitions it was good to share this one with a wider audience. Not sure I would share them all though!
1) a slab of toro for brekkie at Tsukiji fish market in tokyo. 2) go tapas bar hopping for lunch in spain (heavy on the bacalao, anchovies and sausage) 3) kaiseki dinner in a kyoto complete with geisha in attendance. Actually I doubt I'd really enjoy this one but I put it in for it's sheer cost and inacessibility.
