I had a phone call from Scottish Power asking why I was leaving them.
I am not. They were approached by a company called Pure Planet ltd to say I was changing over to them on November 17th.
I have had no contact with this company so how can they do this without my permission.
Scottish Power say I will receive a final bill from them but to ignore it. They will apply to get my account back to them.
What happens if I get a bill from the new company, will I have to pay it?
Happened to me too a few years back. The rep knocked my door and I told him I was not interested. He asked my name and I said it's Mrs Brown, next thing my gas was switched over into a new account in the name of Brown. Took about six months to sort and I refused to pay the new company, telling them to take me to court!
The other one that was tried on me was "all of your neighbours have signed up and if you don't sign too, they won't get the huge group discount and will blame you. I told the bloke to eff off. Can't remember which company it was now but there was a huge scandal because they had contracted out the door to door stuff and the firm who were doing it were paying by the number of sign ups. At the time I think there were less suppliers and previously no choice so once you found out who anybody in the area had as a supplier then it was a pretty good guess that everyone else was too.
