Installing Laminate Flooring
5 Answers
Hi. We are replacing our old laminate flooring with 12mm laminate, the joiner says we should have bought 8mm again as 12mm is harder to lay and he will have to charge us more money to install it. does this sound right ? We thought 12mm was better as it would last longer and has better soundproofing. why would it be harder to install, surely it would click together the same or maybe better ? any advice appreciated

The thicker laminate will certainly be better. I certainly can't see any reason for an increased cost, unless, as mentioned, trimming door heights is needed.
