And the hottest, where and how high?

Montreal for me -34 (both in C and F - where the crossover occurs) and
Kuwait at Minas Abbas where it was 50C (the humidity low)

(One of the worst was Muscat at 42C and very humid, an instant sauna outside)

I do remember the strange feeling of ice crystals forming inside nostrils when breathing in.
Coldest, when working as cabin crew on a Santa Lapland flight. The only time I have been on an aircraft that is sliding sideways on the apron.

Hottest, probably Muscat in Oman. Walked in sandals down concrete steps to a beach. Stepped out of the sandals onto the sand and it was like stepping into scalding water. Jumped back onto the sandals but the grains of sand continued to burn as I frantically tried to brush them off.
^ When we used to go up to Moscow, we used to stand on the steps at the back of the aircraft and chuck glasses of water into the air to see if they came back down to earth as snow. I don't think they did. All we had between us and the freezing temperatures was a thin blouse and skirt whilst the Soviet guards who used to guard the hold were in thick greatcoats. Makes me feel cold just thinking about it
When I worked on maintenance in a steel works I had to stand on the top of an electric arc furnace to do a quick repair... That was 'king hot...

In the shadow of my wife’s withering look of disapproval
