the most Awkward party I went to involved keys in a bowl !! EEK... heels... dust ... and I could not look the other invitees at the golf club in the eye again... !!

I have to be glad I gave it a shot, minty. I'd have been a annoyed with myself if I'd left an empty place at the table. Going to a party for me is like putting an arachnophobe into a room full of tarantulas. Ah well.
