While putting a couple of food items in box at Tesco last week, I noticed a bottle of red wine. Didn't realise alcohol was on the list! Perhaps with Christmas coming up, maybe its allowed?

Working tax credit told the pension credit that my payments had stopped as I was no longer working. This was true as I was retiring and going over to pension credit. But pension credit then stopped all my pension payments meaning I had no income. It went on for 7 weeks until the CAB managed to sort it out. But in the meantime I had only the food bank to provide food. They were very good and even asked me if I had a dog or cat, when I said I had a dog they gave me a huge bag of complete dry dog food as well as food for my wife and I. The food bank staff told me that benefit mistakes such as mine were the most common reason people had to use them.
Hi nailit...I'm a cook/coach-as they call us- for a homeless charity. There to listen, advise or direct to those with specific expertise. And to feed folk who need sustenance. I have a love/hate relationship with it...it's not easy...and at times very painful. Like when our numbers go down for the wrong reason.
We do the best we can to put our guys together with the resources available. I know it's extremely frustrating for my co-workers when communication breaks down...weve seen guys mental health deteriorate when it goes wrong.
