I've never used a decorator before, so have no idea what's involved.

Ideally, I want my room stripped of existing wallpaper, then the woodwork painting (glass-panelled double doors, skirting boards, no windows tho) and new wallpaper putting up. Also, I'd like the ceiling and coving repainting.

Any ideas of what would be a reasonable quote. Also, are decorators happy to strip exisiting paper or not?

(The room is about 12ft x 20ft)

Thanks

Hi,

A decorator will be quite happy to strip the wallpaper, but if I were you I would do that myself,a decorator can then see the condition of the walls, and give you a proper quote, A decorator where I live would charge in the region of 80-100 per day,so stripping the paper yourself will save you a fair bit of money, as I say a lot will depend on what making good etc is involved, good luck, Ray
I go along with Raysparx answer - here in West Wales we paid 10 per hour for a local decorator - did a good clean professional job. So good that we employed him to do the bathroom (stripping, painting and tiling) while we went on holiday. He even watered the plants for us!
Sorry, didn't read your post thoroughly! I would estimate three to four days work, going on previous experience.

OK, thanks guys, we've just so much to do it seems as if getting the professionals in is the only way to get it all done before Christmas!

At least I now know a little of what to expect.

Thanks again
