If my little travel kettle had airmiles it would probably be able to go round the world a couple of times. I've lost count of the number of places we've enjoyed a late night cuppa and a couple of ginger nuts, often to the envy of fellow travellers, I recall a fort in India where we had a queue of people waiting to borrow it! Ginger nuts because they don't break in our luggage.
yuk indeed.
I have never, very understood why people travel with a kettle.

Not even reading the article has swayed me.

There again, I cannot bear UHT milk and unless provided with fresh would never even entertain the idea of a cup of tea/coffee in my room.
I don't use the kettle in hotel rooms either.
Yuk... how do people even think of these things??

On way to hotel I buy a small bottle of fresh milk. I take a small plastic bowl and a j cloth when I travel, cold water in bowl stand milk in the water cover with damp cloth and the milk stays cool and fresh for days. Check kettle for miscellaneous items of laundry and it saves using room service.
I just buy water to drink in the morning and go down for coffee. I suppose if I had a suite I'd hang around the room a bit longer...
If I use the kettle I usually fill it and boil it three or four times first anyway with the lid off so it doesn't click off not much living in it after that tbh, so can''t say I'm too terrified but still a very ewwww thing for anyone to do :/
Yuk!

I boil the kettle a couple of times and tip it near enough upside down to ensure that the boiling water washes the lid too. I need at least one coffee before I can function properly!
i suppose the hotels vary i've never had a problem and i very fussy i bought a travel kettle years ago for abroad use could never get rid of the plastic smell ,i threw it
Why not just wash your underwear in the bathroom sink ?? There are some odd characters out there ....
I have never heard of anyone using a kettle to wash their underwear !

Sounds like a typical Express story to me....perhaps they didn't have any new evidence that Diana was murdered by Prince Phillip and MI5 in August, when this article first appeared.
I watched an interview with a comedian a while back. He was saying he takes a kettle everywhere he goes. He said someone actually had a poo in a hotel kettle. I think it might have been Micky Flanagan.
